Artist statement
Ecological Self is a diptych drawing which translates a personal interrelationship with nature; mapping the symbiosis between human and non-human entities, both macro and micro. Detailed mark-making and stippling techniques, using fibre-tip markers, document the complex and intrinsic entanglement among all beings. The drawing interweaves comparative structures of plants, animals and landscapes, to depict our existence as one body. The project aims to foster a personal ecological consciousness, by identifying self as part of nature.
