This Moving Image work spans over an indescribable amount of time; the intense feeling we feel when we are in the presence of somebody we feel a deep emotional connection to. In these moments time and space fade away as well as well as the background. Our only focus is the person in front of us. It also considers the sense of surveillance surrounding relationships in our contemporary society, particularly through social media. Online, couples consistently need to show themselves only in their most perfect moments, cutting out the in-between, which is unrealistic. Through a linear lens, we view a couple spending a romantic date together. Although the locations and times change within the day, it is assumed through their outfits that it is one particular day with singular moments observed by an external viewer. In this sense, the audience may feel as though they are prying on the couple, watching them without their consent like a security camera. Suddenly, we hear a camera click, alerting the audience that there is a potential third party and a moment between them is solidified forever in that photograph. As well as the diegetic sound of the locations, A haunting musical drone lies beneath, accentuating a sense of dread or mystery. This contrasts the romantic imagery taking place, we as viewers feel as though something bad is about to happen but we don’t know what.
