STUDENT'S ARTWORK

ARTIST STATEMENT

In my latest work, I present Evie Sinclair, a character brought to life through the power of 3D rendering using Arnold in Maya. Inspired by the grace, strength, and determination of Olympic gymnast Aliya Mustafina, Evie embodies the duality of elegance and resilience. The rendering process captures Evie's likeness with meticulous attention to detail the subtle expressions on her face, reflecting the physical and emotional intensity inherent in her character.  Evie Sinclair is more than just a visual representation; she is a narrative force. Her story is told through every contour and shadow, echoing the struggles and triumphs of a woman who navigates a world of intrigue and danger with poise and intelligence. The choice to render her using Arnold allows for a depth of realism that makes her almost tangible, bridging the gap between the digital and the human. This work is an exploration of character design that transcends the screen, aiming to resonate on a deeply emotional level, drawing viewers into Evie’s world and inviting them to connect with her story in a way that feels both familiar and new.

ARTIST INTRODUCTION

As a 3d Character artist, my journey into the world of 3D art has been fueled by a deep passion for bringing characters to life, despite having no formal background in 2D art. My approach is shaped by a love for both realism and stylization, where I blend detailed anatomy with expressive, exaggerated forms.  My interest in gymnastics profoundly influences my work, as I draw inspiration from the strength, grace, and dynamic movement inherent in the sport. This is reflected in the poses, anatomy, and overall energy of the characters I create. Photography, another of my passions, informs my understanding of light, shadow, and composition, helping me to add depth and realism to my digital sculpts.  In my work, I strive to capture the essence of my subjects, whether they are realistic portrayals or more stylized creations. Every character is a story waiting to be told, a reflection of both the physical and emotional worlds they inhabit. Through ZBrush, I aim to craft these stories with meticulous attention to detail, making each piece a unique expression of my artistic vision.
