My work is a poignant and expressive three-channel, discursive documentary-style video artwork that delves into the lived experiences of a pair of young, queer friends. Through a powerful combination of spoken word, open dialogue conversation, and performative expression, the work offers a raw and intimate glimpse into the minds and hearts of these individuals as they navigate both the complexities and the affirming moments of their identities. The work seamlessly weaves together formal elements of interview-style discussions with more abstract and expressive components, creating a dynamic and engaging visual style. As the pair share their stories, thoughts, and emotions, their words are brought to life through evocative dance movements, improvised joyous gestures, and carefully manipulated lighting. This unique blend of verbal and non-verbal communication allows for a deeper, more nuanced exploration of the subjects' experiences, inviting the viewer to connect with their stories on a profound level. Ultimately, it offers a platform for these individuals to express themselves authentically, bringing poignant and important issues to the forefront, whilst also celebrating the beauty and diversity of the queer community. Through its innovative and evocative approach to storytelling, the work delivers a thought-provoking and emotionally resonant insight into the queer experience.
