STUDENT'S ARTWORK

ARTIST STATEMENT

While I'm living in Australia, I have faced challenges in forming close friendships, grappling with loneliness as a foreigner and struggling with feelings of inadequacy in English. This sense of isolation and frustration has profoundly influenced my film, which explores themes of loneliness, frustration, and the yearning to escape. In my film, I chose to blend horror, romance, and experimental elements, rather than sticking to a single genre. I used dark blue tones to evoke fear in the horror-focused first half, transitioning to more up-tempo and experimental visuals during drug scenes. In the final part, I transitioned to warmer colors to reflect the emotional shift as the romance elements emerged, creating a complex and engaging visual and emotional journey for the audience.
