ARTIST STATEMENT

My film is a short film for Major Project 2. In it, an undercover cop tries to arrest a thief for stealing a valuable object and goes to extreme lengths, such as shooting her with a laser gun. It is about one person terminating another person, and by the end of the film, there is a twist that makes the title Eradication make more sense. The film took two days to film. Editing and effects took months to get done. I used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the film and After Effects to create the effects, especially the lasers, fire and wind. My inspirations are from The Matrix, Star Wars and Avatar: The Last Airbender. The Matrix is mainly the action and camera movement. Star Wars is the costuming and lasers. Avatar: The Last Airbender [informed] the fire and wind effects, which are inspired by bending elements.

ARTIST INTRODUCTION

My name is Matthew Loke. I am a third-year student who studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Animation and VFX. I personally love movies, specifically Star Wars, Marvel, DC and Harry Potter, as those films have a lot of VFX. I make a lot of movies influenced by those genres, and I like to incorporate a lot of visual effects and editing into my films.
