ARTIST STATEMENT

The main ideology behind this project is to illustrate the different stages of the human life cycle and to juxtapose the concept of the four seasons with it through animation. The story begins with the arrival of new life in spring, which symbolises new beginnings and growth, and concludes with the end of life during winter, a season that represents rest and the closing of a cycle. The reason for this idea is that life is a precious journey filled with ups and downs. By expressing this valuable experience through art, we can inspire more people to appreciate the lives they lead and the successes they have achieved. Although this project is considered concept art, I believe the theme is centred around life source and the energies we give and receive from each other.

ARTIST INTRODUCTION

My name is Samuel Paakow A. Clement, and I am a master's degree student specialising in Animation and VFX.  My passion for animation began when I was just three years old. I vividly remember the excitement I felt while watching my favourite TV animation series and other programs. I would be completely engrossed in the portrayal of cartoon characters like Captain Planet, Johnny Bravo, Samurai Jack, and Tom and Jerry, always curious about what made these characters come to life. Growing up, I was inspired by my father, a graphic designer, and my uncle, a film director, to pursue my passion for visual design communication. They encouraged me to learn, explore and expand my understanding of this captivating field. My passion for animation and visual effects has guided every decision I've made, both in my career and academics. This dedication ultimately led me to the University of New South Wales, where I could pursue my interests further. With about five years of experience in multimedia design and animation, I have come to view animation as a valuable tool for information, education and entertainment.
