Artwork title: A Hundred Walking from Home...

Artwork title: A Hundred Walking from Home to the Organic Bread Bar and Back

This work documents a mundane activity in my life that was intensified by the repetitive nature of domestic life during Covid-19 lockdowns. The work consists of:

  • a digital print of a 10 x 10 greyscale grid
  • an animated gif of the grid
  • a projected slideshow of the 100 images
  • four hand-drawn images of the route taken
  • two colour digital prints of the first and last images.

This installation documents an excursion from my house to a local café and back again, while remaining within the NSW government’s “stay at home” limits. The confusion of still and moving images replicates my state of mind at tracing and retracing a familiar yet constantly changing path.

I am an emerging disabled, queer, migrant artist living in Sydney. My interests include art-walking, documentation, and random acts of senseless beauty expressed through drawing, graffiti, installation, land art, painting, and photography. I am currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) at the University of New South Wales where I was highly commended in the Jenny Birt Painting Award and Tim Olsen Drawing Prize.
