Artist statement

Home Trip is a five-pieces, mixed-media oil painting series illustrating the artist’s grandmom's old house and its front yard from different angles. The series incorporated collage in oil, using brushwork painting techniques. It is a response to the artist’s last visit of her mom's hometown (Lan County, Shanxi province, China). The work is a way of reclaiming the artist’s regional identity, while exploring her complex to rural countryside. It is a nostalgic acknowledgement of the artist’s maternal family.
