Artist statement

‘Our Past, Her Future’ is a large-scale acrylic painting with accompanying photographs that explore the inextricable connection between the past, present and future. The work records my familial histories as a narration for my niece, who is considered my daughter through kinship obligations. The application of ochre over the images acts to reflect the fragility of the landscape giving insight into the ephemeral nature of the natural world as the ochre slowly changes form over time.
