Artist statement

Kanha ki Raas Leela is a pair of self-portrait drawings done  in colour pencils. To make these drawings, I photograph myself  and then digitally collage them to create sensual and sensuous compositions. Then I render them using colour pencils on hot pressed watercolour paper. I am using self-portraiture to enter Indian history and queer religious bodies. I am aiming to bring back the focus on my queer ‘self’,  something that has  been de-centralised from normativity  and not proudly represented in my culture’s history.
