Artist statement

On Display is a sculptural self-portrait consist cardboard shelf filled with charcoal, pastel and ink drawings on paper. The drawings are spontaneous depictions of the self in both image and writing, which have subsequently been folded and shelved. The work seeks to examine how our personal identity is perceived internally and externally, alluding to the facets of ourselves that we selectively display, those we hope to keep hidden and those we seek to ignore.
