Artist statement

Untitled is a figurative watercolour painting that depicts themes of masculinity. Indeed, the delicate and dainty nature of watercolour paint is purposely used to allow for a sense of fragility to be seen within the male figure, stripping back the stereotypical hard shell of masculinity and asking an audience to consider the positives for men within a drinking environment. Moreover, Untitled explores the male urge, desire and need for catharsis, doing so through “carnival” type moments that allow for mate-ship, intimacy, lunacy and destructive behaviours.
