Artist statement

My artwork, Before the Tree Line, uses a continuous narrative model, centred on Robert Frost’s 1923 poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. The narrative is recontextualised from a man riding his horse into the journey of a snowshoe hare, whilst exploring the same themes of suicidal ideation, obligation and hope. Before the Tree Line is read left to right and uses space to bolster the narrative and its message, whilst referring to the structure of Frost’s poem.
