Artist statement

Radiator explores translation, relocation and systems used to organise movement, drawing from personal experiences of immigration and existing between places and languages. Suspended within a rigid metal frame, coded information overlaps with hand-twisted paper threads, bringing industrial communication into contact with a traditional Korean making process. Designed to identify and organise, these numerical markings belong to systems that suggest order and efficiency yet often remain illegible to those outside the structures that produce them. Through the encounter between these modes, the work approaches translation as actively constructed, in which meaning is carried from one context to another while remaining susceptible to obscurity.
