Artist statement

Structure (d) to learn exploits both visual language and repetition to confront the disciplinary mindset. By using the medium of lithography which involves an iterative procedure, it creates an analogy that relates punishment tasks for misconduct during my childhood.

When working backwards from black to white to reveal the image, the project aims to realise how monotonous structures and forms can lock certain knowledge and ways of doing into one’s body as absolute truths. I strive to create a space where one can observe hidden power relations and confront them rather than being forced into automatic habits.
