PIPE KING considers the power and authority to control, contain and direct the flow of water. PVC pipes extrude from the wall and stretch across the gallery floor, transforming concealed plumbing into a drawing in space. The work extends the logic of architectural plumbing plans, where lines indicate the controlled pathways of flow. Translating these lines from paper into the gallery, allows these pathways to become spatially encounterable. A field recording reverberates from within the pipes, making the containment of flow audible. Through line and sound, PIPE KING begins to question the authority that governs the flow of water.
