Refurbishment project
What’s Happening?
UNSW have been working with the Defence Projects Team on an exciting upgrade to the Academy Library! This project includes a much-needed refurbishment to the infrastructure of the building 13, levels 1 and 2. The refurbishment activities include: a lighting upgrade, re-painting, re-carpeting, new shelving, new bathrooms, new fittings, and upgrades to student/staff study spaces, as well as additional furniture.
June-July 2025 update
Access to the Library’s entrance and top floors and to the 24/7 Service, will cease from 17:00 on Friday, June 27, 2025. Clients can still enter the Academy Library from 08:30 to 17:00 each weekday to speak with library staff up until 17:00 on Friday, July 04, 2025. From 09:00 on July 7, clients can visit library staff at our alternate service desk on the lower-ground floor of Lecture Theatre North (B32, near SR03).
Semester 2 Support
During this period, we are committed to maintaining library services and minimising disruption. The Academy Library will be providing assess to:
· Current and new prescribed resources (textbooks) and continued support of course readings for Semester 2
- UNSW’s extensive collection of online databases, eBooks, electronic journals and other resources. (Did you know that almost 70% of UNSW Library resources are digital?)
- Access to a subset of the print collections, including thousands of identified high-circulating physical items
- Loans from other library networks via the ULANZ Borrowing Scheme (i.e. borrowing from other university libraries in the ACT region) or via interlibrary loan services (delivered to Canberra)
- Extended virtual support via our library website and Ask Us Service.
- Special Collections’ access and delivery for students, academics & researchers will continue! All face-to-face services (including viewings, classes, consultations, events) will be delivered via temporary spaces on campus, with online curatorial support available via the Contact page.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time, and we are looking forward to welcoming you back to a significantly enhanced library environment once the renovation is complete. If you have any questions or require assistance with library services during the closure, please contact the library here.
