Your Doctors of Tomorrow

Striving for a sustainable Medical Workforce for Rural and Regional Australia.

The Border Regional Training Hub (BRTH) is located on the NSW and Victorian border and collaborates with both States to facilitate the development of rural and regional training opportunities which contribute to career pathways within a sustainable rural medical workforce.

The UNSW Regional Training Hub, as a partner in the Southern Regional Training Hub Alliance, has played a pivotal role in the the development of the Regional Medical Training (RMT) Website.

Our collaboration has resulted in the The Southern Regional Training Hub Alliance (SRTHA) and the NSW Hubs Network combining to expand the Regional Medical Training Website
This website is a comprehensive resource for identifying training opportunities in South Eastern Regional Australia.
We encourage you to explore the website which allows you to search via specialties or by regions.
For any aspect of career development and specialty pathway planning, please contact the Border Hub for assistance.

We are here to help you to:

  • Discuss your career ambitions and what you hope to achieve
  • Provide information on what is available for your chosen pathway
  • Explore ways to assist and develop a specific training pathway for you

In addition, we can:

  • Provide professional connections to learn from their experience
  • Help identify research opportunities within UNSW and Partner Health Operations
  • Provide information on what other Hubs within our region can offer you
  • Direct you to a mentoring program both within and outside the region through other support organisations - please visit MentorLoop

From the time of considering medicine at secondary school to the advancement of your medical career, the Hub has information for you.

We provide:

  • Support for medical students in their application for internship positions with guidance and training in CV preparation, appropriate referee identification and interview techniques
  • Information sessions delivered by medical students to secondary school students who are interested in a medical career to discuss the life of a medical student
  • Promote and identify scholarship and award opportunities to our students
  • Provide links to training and career pathways options for career progression

Useful links:

We work closely with our local health service Albury Wodonga Health and other regional Health organisations to:

  • Identify community need and support the accreditation process of training posts to meet this need
  • Identify medical students and junior doctors with an interest in rural and regional career pathways and provide focussed support and skill development to enable them to reach their goals.

We can:

  • Introduce you to key stakeholders within the health service who can provide direction and career information
  • Identify training opportunities being provided by external education providers that benefit all medical staff
  • Work collaboratively with specialist colleges and GP regional training organisations to support JMO/RMOs with a specific career pathway.

We showcase the best of what rural and regional areas careers have to offer. There are many rewards that rural and regional areas provide for doctors and their families, not the least being a sense of local community.
