Enhancing community health & equity

Public Health Aspects of Mental Health (PHCM9761) word cloud

Everyone has a right to good health, no matter where they live, their stage in life or their circumstances. We work in partnership with communities on priorities that matter the most to them. Our research is underpinned by our commitment to addressing issues of equity and social justice. Every day our researchers are tackling global health challenges through applied research to improve equity in communities locally and around the world.

Health and wellbeing across the life-course

Our research improves the health and wellbeing of people across the life course and intergenerationally. Our equity-oriented approach recognises that health and wellbeing are connected to identity, opportunity and social circumstances.

Justice health

A disproportionate number of society’s most marginalised people have contact with the criminal justice system. We provide research on the health of this population, develop interventions to prevent such contact, and improve health, justice and welfare outcomes.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health

We work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities to champion community-led, culturally safe impactful research to address health and social inequities for Indigenous peoples worldwide.

Global Health

We build capacity for global health research, improving equity and access to health services by partnering with government and non-government organisations in local communities and academic institutions globally.
