Congratulations to former member of staff, and long time friend of the School, Professor Herbert Huppert, FRS, who has been recognised with the Royal Society’s prestigious 2020 Royal Society Medal.

Professor Huppert (University of Cambridge) has been at the forefront of research in fluid mechanics. As an applied mathematician he has consistently developed highly original analysis of key natural and industrial processes.

The Royal Medals are awarded on behalf of the Queen each year and have been issued annually since 1825. Previous recipients include Francis Crick, Mary Lyon and Fred Sanger.

Professor Huppert is one of 25 winners of Royal Society medals and awards announced today.

The full list of medals and awards, including their description and past winners can be found on the Royal Society website.

A very big congratulations to Professor Huppert!
