AGSM @ UNSW Business School has ranked 43rd in the Financial Times (UK) 2018 Best MBAs for Entrepreneurship global rankings released today.
This is the first time the AGSM has been included in the list of the world’s top schools with MBA programs designed to nurture the leadership skills of entrepreneurs.
“AGSM consistently ranks among the world’s best schools of management for our full-time, part-time, and online MBA programs, as well as Executive Education,” said Nick Wailes, AGSM Director and Deputy Dean UNSW Business School.
“Ranking in the world’s top 50 MBAs for Entrepreneurship is recognition of our commitment to developing a new generation of leaders. One of the hallmarks of a modern, contemporary MBA is the flexibility it provides for students to explore their leadership potential.”
The skills of an entrepreneur can be used to launch companies, revive acquired businesses, or create growth and cultural change within an organisation. AGSM focuses on helping students discover their own strengths and weaknesses to operate within this fast-pasted environment and assists them to build strong foundations and effective teams based on this knowledge.
AGSM scored highly in several categories and among the highest in the Motivation metric (9.2 out of a possible 10 points). The Motivation metric is calculated based the extent to which the skills gained during the MBA encouraged the entrepreneurs to start a company.
Kaoru Nishinakagawa, Co-Founder and COO of Innovation Dojo, completed an AGSM full-time MBA in 2016. She says her MBA gave her new tools and frameworks to unite the skills and resources of the Japanese corporate sector with innovation-savvy Australians.
"Before the AGSM MBA I knew the word ‘innovation’, but I then discovered what it really takes to be an innovative person,” she said. “There are so many entrepreneurs these days, and I didn't want to be just one more. My AGSM MBA gave me the confidence that I could bring something beneficial to the market and to the world through Innovation Dojo.”
Earlier this year, AGSM ranked 63rd in the Financial Times (UK) 2018 Global Fulltime MBA Ranking, 8th in the Financial Times (UK) 2018 Online MBA Rankings, and 44th in the global Financial Times (UK) 2018 Global Executive Education Rankings.
