The WHEAT Study (WithHolding or continuing Enteral feeds Around blood Transfusion): The Australian arm of the multinational WHEAT International collaboration

The WHEAT Australia trial is a randomised, controlled, multi-centre trial being undertaken in NICUs across Australia. The trial aims to discovering if it is better to withhold or continue feeds during premature babies’ blood transfusions to reduce the incidence of necrotising enterocolitis (NEC). This is the registry embedded trial with data sourced from the central ANZNN Data Collection Clinical Registry.
