Dr Giulia Ferretto

Dr Giulia Ferretto is a marine ecologist specialising in seagrass restoration, with a focus on scaling up and future-proofing bio-cultural restoration efforts. She completed her PhD at the University of New South Wales in 2022, developing innovative approaches to restore the threatened seagrass Posidonia australis (Operation Posidonia), before undertaking a postdoctoral position at the University of Western Australia in Perth. Now a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UNSW, she combines field-based experimentation with community engagement, working closely with citizen-science initiatives such as Operation Posidonia. She is also passionate about science communication and bridging ecological science and coastal communities.
