His work has been exhibited in more than 60 major Australian and international art museums, galleries, festivals and biennales. Jonathan has won numerous large-scale public art commissions and his work has been extensively collected by both major public institutions and leading private collections.

Jonathan's artistic career was encouraged by his grandmother – a Wiradjuri woman – when she suggested he explore his heritage. He is a Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate and possesses an incisive critical and historical approach and bold graphic style of visual expression.

For the 32nd Kaldor Public Art Project, in 2016 Jonathan presented barrangal dyara (skin and bones), a vast sculptural installation stretching across 20,000 metres of the Sydney Royal Botanical Gardens.
