Expand your learning in gifted education
Today’s classrooms are an ever-evolving landscape with shifting needs that teachers need to keep up with. As part of UNSW’s School of Education’s commitment to providing ongoing learning for teachers, we offer masterclasses to deepen knowledge around gifted education.
GERRIC, the unit responsible for delivering Gifted Education programs at the School of Education, offers one and two-day masterclasses that are open to teachers or school administrators who have already completed at least 16 hours of training or professional development in gifted education.
Masterclasses are led by experts in the field from Australia and across the world. Masterclass participants are eligible for NESA-accredited professional learning hours in New South Wales.
Masterclasses have no assessment component and won’t be counted towards a UNSW degree. Students enrolled in MEd studies at UNSW have the opportunity to develop a research project with a focus on one of the issues addressed in a masterclass they have attended.
Eligible professional development or training for participation in GERRIC masterclasses include:
- GERRIC Mini–COGE or similar in-service
- A component of a university program in gifted education
- Introductory Course in GERRIC’s Certificate of Gifted Education
- Other substantial PD/in-service attendance.
