Welcome from the Head of School

At the School of Education, we shape the teachers and educators of the future. Our graduates are leaders, critical thinkers and significant contributors to change in education, nationally and internationally.

We pride ourselves on attracting passionate and high-achieving students, whether it be students starting their career in teaching or educators pursuing one of our postgraduate courses.

Our school has an internationally acclaimed research team exploring theories, ideas and knowledge to advance teaching practices and policies across the globe. We’re currently undertaking a project with the Australian Department of Education to deliver research-based and rigorously tested professional learning for school principals aimed at supporting them to enhance the teaching and learning of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Our academics are actively engaged in many high-level projects at the national and international level. Year on year, our experimental and interventionist approach to research contributes to the improvement of learning and teaching.

Opening the door to your teaching career

We’re the preferred provider of initial teacher education in NSW, with the greatest number of students in NSW listing us as their first preference. We also have the highest average ATARS of any initial teacher education program in Australia. Our degrees give you foundational knowledge in teacher education, with the opportunity to specialise in your area of interest.

Strong partnerships for your professional learning

We pride ourselves on the strong partnerships we’ve forged across industry, community and government organisations in Australia and abroad. It’s why we’re the preferred provider of professional development and training for the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and are renowned for our innovative work with the Matraville Education Partnership.

Our progressive Professional Learning programs offer accredited and non-accredited learning options so you can specialise in the areas of education where you’d like to make a critical difference.
