About

Caitlin Brines is a PhD candidate in the School of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation.

Caitlin's research aims to investigate how ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) information influences performance evaluations. Specifically, she is exploring how supervisors weigh ESG factors alongside financial performance data. Inspired by an ARC Discovery Grant and a deep interest in ESG issues, she is employing experimental methods to uncover insights. One particularly intriguing discovery from her work is that supervisors tend to prioritise ESG information more when financial performance targets have been achieved. Ultimately, she envisions her research contributing to the enhancement of performance management systems for better societal and environmental outcomes.
