About

David is currently working on coupled climate simulations of the Last Interglacial (approx 127 ka). He is interested in modelling the effects of removing parts of the West Antarctic ice sheet,  its effect on ocean circulation and feedbacks on Southern Hemisphere climate. David is also interested in deep time paleoclimate modelling. He has previously developed simulations of the Eocene-Oligocene Transition (34 Ma), a major climate cooling event in which the Antarctic ice sheet first formed. Further back in time, he has also developed simulations of the early Eocene (55 Ma), a world with high greenhouse gas warming and no polar ice sheets. These past warm climates present excellent analogues of possible future warming scenarios.
