Mia's PhD research investigates the salience of "mood" within the digital literary sphere and contemporary fiction. She brings together literary and media studies and affect theory to provide a comprehensive and critical account of a new moody paradigm in popular culture. This work extends the research she completed during her honours year at UNSW on ambivalent subjectivity and structural innovation in the post-2016 internet novel. For this work, she was awarded First Class Honours and the University Medal in English. Prior to post-graduate study, Mia worked as a data analyst and media professional in trade and magazine publishing, and in television and streaming. She holds a Bachelor of Economics (Distinction) from UNSW, and has taught data analytics and microeconomics in the UNSW Business School.
