Each year, The Australian launches its Research Magazine which celebrates research excellence across 250 fields of research. We are pleased to announce that UNSW’s Cardiac, Vascular and Metabolic Medicine Theme Lead Professor Alta Schutte has been named as the top researcher in the field of Vascular Medicine. Top researchers are determined by an impact score that takes into account both the quality and the impact of the research, as determined by publications in top journals and their number of citations respectively.

Professor Shutte joins three other UNSW Faculty of Medicine & Health researchers: Scientia Professor Louisa Degenhardt, Scientia Professor Andrew Edwin Grulich, and Scientia Professor Helen Christensen.

Professor Alta Schutte joined UNSW in February 2020 as a joint appointment between the School of Public health and Community Medicine and the George Institute for Global Health, and she has been leading the CVMM theme ever since. Her appointment was part of the University’s Strategic Hires and Retention Pathways (SHARP) initiative, which aims to recruit leading researchers from around the world.
