Professor Sallie Pearson
Director, NHMRC Medicines Intelligence Centre of Research Excellence
Theme Principal, Health Systems Research
Professor of Health Systems and Head, Medicines Intelligence Research Program, School of Population Health
The primary focus of my research program is to generate real-world evidence about the use, effectiveness and safety of prescribed medicines. My program has addressed major evidence gaps about medicine use and outcomes in routine clinical care, shaping policy action, improvements in health and reductions in medicine-related harm. I have long-standing and productive research partnerships with the Australian Department of Health and Aged Care, the Australian Commission of Safety and Quality in Health Care, the Office of the National Data Commissioner, NSW Health, the NSW Bureau of Health Information and the Consumer Health Forum.
