Dr Huang-Lung is an early career researcher and optometrist passionate about improving health outcomes by addressing barriers to accessing eye care. She is currently conducting research projects that seek to optimise eye care delivery (cataract surgery, diabetic eye exams), promote healthy aging and prevent injuries associated with vision impairment, such as falls. Her PhD thesis (conferred in August 2020) focused on improving glaucoma detection and management through collaborative care (between optometrists and ophthalmologists) and patient monitoring of intraocular pressure at home. She has practiced optometry in diverse settings including the Centre for Eye Health, the Australian College of Optometry, private and corporate practices in metropolitan and rural areas. Jessie also supported the development of optometry education in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam during a 12-month volunteer assignment with the Brien Holden Vision Institute and Australian Volunteers Program.
