Jessie is an early career clinician-researcher (School of Optometry & Vision Science) passionate about improving patient health by addressing issues around equitable access to eye care. She is currently conducting research that seeks to optimise eye care delivery (cataract surgery, diabetic eye exams), promote healthy aging and prevent injuries associated with vision disorders and impairment such as falls. Her PhD thesis (conferred in August 2020) focused on improving glaucoma detection and management through collaborative care and patient monitoring of intraocular pressure at home. She currently delivers clinical services as a senior staff optometrist at the Centre for Eye Health, UNSW Sydney. She has held clinical positions in private practice in rural NSW, the Australian College of Optometry and OPSM in Melbourne, Victoria. Jessie also supported the development of optometry education in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam during a 12-month volunteer assignment with the Brien Holden Vision Institute and Australian Volunteers Program.
