
Research Interests:
Sallie is a pharmacoepidemiologist with more than two decades' experience in quality use of medicines research. Her specific research interests include post-market surveillance of medicines, evaluating the impact of pharmaceutical policy interventions and prescriber behaviour change. Sallie completed her doctoral training at the University of Newcastle, Australia (1998) and her Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Policy at Harvard Medical School (2000-2001). Sallie established the Medicines Policy Research Unit at UNSW in 2005. Sallie is currently Professor of Health Systems at the School of Population Health and Theme Principal for Health Systems Research, UNSW Faculty of Medicine and Health. She is also the Director of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Medicines Intelligence. Sallie has been actively engaged in a range of committees and advisory groups including the NSW Population and Health Services Research Ethics Committee (Deputy Chair: 2006-2011; Chair 2012-2017) and the Drug Utilisation Sub-Committee of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (2011-), Australian Commission for Safety and Quality and Health Care Medication Oversight Committee (2018-), the National Data Advisory Council (2019-), National COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce (Co-Chair Observational Data Working Group, 2020-2022), NSW Bureau of Health Information Board (2021- ).
