The Business Operations Owner role focuses on business responsibilities and the support of end-users. Typically they will report into the Business Owner and for large enterprise systems they may be the manager of a team who manage or provide support for business processes.

Roles and responsibilities

The Business Operations owner undertakes day-to-day business responsibilities on behalf of the Business Owner, which includes the support of end-users of the service.

This is different from the Service Owner and Delivery Owner, which are roles focus on the support and maintenance of the service technology.

Responsible for:

  • Providing business resources for UAT and communicating with key stakeholders to support system changes
  • Supporting Business Owner in identifying and mitigating Cyber Security risks
  • Provision of end user support, training and documentation
  • Managing business resources that contribute to the delivery of the service and/or system
  • Supporting the Service Owner and Delivery Owner where necessary to resolve incidents
  • Management and compliance of data in line with UNSW Data Governance Policies and Standards
  • Supporting preventative maintenance by providing business resources for UAT and communicating with stakeholders
  • Identifying and assessing service risks and associated actions plans
  • Supporting Service Owner where necessary in the application of critical patches
  • Creation of Business Continuity Plan
  • Annual review of user access, ensuring the principle of least privilege
  • Providing business requirements for the Service Lifecycle and roadmap as well as vendor and contract management
