Abstract: Following a short introduction to integrable partial differential
equations which model nonlinear wave propagation in 1+1 dimensions, we
describe the behavior of solitons termed "boomerons" or "trappons" after
their unusual motion. Various integrable nonlinear wave equations
possessing such boomeronic solutions are shown which are selected for
their potential relevance in applications and/or potential mathematical
interest.
