POSTGRAD RESEARCH STUDENTS' SEMINAR ON FRIDAY THE 24 OF JUNE 2005
Published on the 23 Jun 2005
Following Rob Taggart's introductory seminar last year, Functional
Calculus for Dummies, we continue on from the Hilbert space setting to
consider functional calculi for operators on Banach spaces.
After a review of the basic ideas of spectral decomposition and
functional calculus, we focus on the classes of well-bounded and
spectral operators. Of particular interest are the cases where the
'usual' functional calculus may be extended to a larger algebra of
functions.
