The School of Mathematics and Statistics at The University of New South Wales invites applications from undergraduates wishing to take part in research activities in the School during the summer vacation.
Vacation Research Scholarships are intended for students who are currently enrolled in third year mathematics or statistics and who are interested in further study. Scholarships may also be available for exceptional second year students.
The scholarships will be offered for a period of six weeks during the summer recess. Scholarship holders will receive a weekly allowance of $450 and payment of their transportation costs. The expected cost of full-board accommodation at one of the university colleges is approximately $250 per week.
Vacation scholars will have the opportunity of seeing how research in mathematics is pursued, its application to important problems and the vital part it plays in today's world. Each scholar will work closely with a member of staff and will be tackling a problem of current interest.
Deadline Oct 12.
