UNSW Built Environment Industrial Design students have recently completed an Ergonomics project in which teams were asked to design a toilet and hand-washing fixtures for a domestic bathroom and show how these could be arranged in a bathroom to satisfy Universal Design objectives. This task was undertaken with support and input from Australian bathroom brand Caroma, who offered a $1000 prize for the group who demonstrated the highest standard of research, data collection, evaluation and implementation.

The student teams presented their designs to an assessment panel on Friday April 15, with Caroma representatives Steve Cummings, David Giorgio and Peter Sweatman present to help choose the winning design. Congratulations to students in the winning team; Benjamin Chan, Melinda Kingsland, Richard Trajcevski and Rebecca Womersley.
