The next instalment of the 2011 Utzon Lecture Series will be held on Wednesday the 18th of May in the Keith Burrows theatre at 7pm. The lecture is titled “Sustainable use of Public Space: Cities for Walking, Cycling and Transit” and will be given by Lars Gemzøe, Associate Partner, Architect MAA, Gehl Architects, Copenhagen, Denmark.

The lecture will focus on walking and cycling as modes of mobility, and how such modes are healthy, solve congestion problems and reduce CO2 emissions. The lecture will be illustrated with examples of cities that have made a conscious effort to improve the quality of public spaces for people walking and cycling.
