Applications are invited for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in the Department of Applied Mathematics within the School of Mathematics and Statistics. Strong preference will be given to appointing a candidate with research expertise in applied mathematical aspects of physical oceanography. The successful candidate will have a research doctorate in a relevant mathematical science; an innovative research program; success in conducting high quality research; capacity to continue productive research at the international level; evidence of effective teaching or an aptitude and willingness to teach, including service teaching; and excellent written and oral communication skills. A record of success in obtaining research grants is highly desirable.
  
The Department of Applied Mathematics has a vigorous postgraduate research program and an outstanding record in attracting external research support. It also operates an extensive visitors program for fostering research collaboration. Its academic staff members provide specialist teaching in Applied Mathematics at all undergraduate levels (including honours) and perform a major part of the School's service teaching.
