Between 2009 and 2011 UNSW Alumni have pledged over one million dollars to provide 50 scholarships to disadvantaged students to study at UNSW during the annual Alumni Telephone Appeals.

The success of the 2012 Appeal, where Alumni pledged more than half a million dollars, means UNSW will be able to offer 10 new scholarships in 2013 making higher education more accessible for talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The scholarships are the result of the Vice-Chancellor’s Annual Alumni Telephone Appeal where current UNSW students work with the Alumni office to make contact with thousands of UNSW Alumni to update them on life at UNSW today, share news, keep them informed of forthcoming events, and explore ways in which they can become more involved with UNSW.

Director, Alumni Relations, Stergitsa Zamagias-Hill said “the Appeal is a great partnership between the students participating in our consecutive Appeals and our supportive alumni community.” Students appreciated the opportunity to chat with Alumni about student days “then and now” and hear about the various career paths and how beneficial a UNSW degree had been in many success stories.
