Design student, Shanshan Wang was announced as the student winner of the 2012 Reece Bathroom Innovation Award. Also in attendance were Alfred Boyadgis (runner up) and Miles Park who accepted a prize on behalf of the Industrial Design programme at UNSW.

The Reece Bathroom competition requires entrants to submit an original design for one of the following products: Bathroom furniture (eg vanity unit), Toilet, Basin, Mixer, 3 piece Tapware, Shower, Bath or Accessory Range. Entrants need to provide a complete set of drawings (including 2D and 3D modelling) and a brief supporting design statement.

ShanShan’s design – named “Koeda” is an intuitive mixer tap whilst Alfred designed “leaflet”, a shower system with a minimalist design and personality.
This caps off a busy week of awards for UNSW Industrial Design students. Last week it was announced that four BE students were awarded prizes in the 2012 Southern Cross Packaging Design Awards.  Ryan Go received gold, Max Glanville received silver and Patrick Dunn and Musa Noorsjamsi received commendations.

The Southern Cross Awards, now in their 27th year, focus on educating Australian tertiary design students on the packaging and design industry. Through briefs set by the industry, students are encouraged to be creative and innovative in developing sound packaging design solutions. The briefs reflect a wide range of materials, products and current packaging issues.

Congratulations to all successful.
