Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to invite you to submit an abstract for the next Australian Organic Geochemistry Conference which will be held in Sydney from 2–4th December 2012.

The venue for our meeting is Macquarie University. The meeting will be co-run by people from Macquarie University and the nearby CSIRO North Ryde labs. We have booked suitable meeting rooms to hold the oral and the poster sessions on campus. There are several accommodation options available in the vicinity of Macquarie University; also, we are on a train line, so access to elsewhere in Sydney and to the airport is easy.

Attached and below is the second circular:

Australian Organic Geochemistry Conference 2012

2 - 4 December 2012

Macquarie University, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

The Australian Organic Geochemistry Conference (AOGC) will be held at Macquarie University over 3 days from 2-4th December (Sunday to Tuesday). The conference will begin with an ice-breaker on Sunday evening which will be held 17:00-19:00 at the CSIRO North Ryde laboratories. The conference dinner will be on the evening of Monday 3rd. A fieldtrip, perhaps to the Hunter Valley, may be arranged for Wednesday 5th December (tbc).

Cost for the conference is likely to be about A$400 for full registrants or A$200 for registered students (incl GST). One-day registrations will be available. We will advise the exact cost as soon as we have a better idea of the number of registrants and sponsorship. The cost will include the two days of conference, hard copy abstract book, morning and afternoon teas, lunches, ice-breaker and conference dinner (venue to be announced). We also expect to be able to offer a generous travel subsidy to students, especially those coming from long distances interstate.

Call for abstracts: 1-2 page abstracts are to be submitted by 8th October 2012. Please submit abstracts by email to Kostas Kotzakoulakis:
konstantinos.kotzakoulakis@students.mq.edu.au
An AOGC2012 abstract template is available for download from the conference website.
http://eps.mq.edu.au/AOGC2012/AOGC_2012_Abstract_template_v2.docx
Please also fill in the details on page 3 of this template. Notification of acceptance of abstracts will be released on 15th October, along with details and advice about accommodation and travel, and the registration form for the conference.

Contributions in the general fields of biomarker and organic geochemistry, biogeochemistry, organic matter in water, and organic isotope geochemistry will be considered. We particularly welcome offers of presentations on the following special themes:

Macromolecular Organic Matter
Environmental Organic Geochemistry
Biomarkers in Recent and Ancient Sediments
Paleoenvironmental and palaeoclimate reconstructions
Ocean and River Geochemistry
Coal Geochemistry
Natural Gas Geochemistry
Carbon sequestration
Petroleum and Reservoir Geochemistry
Stable Isotopes and Mass Spectrometry
New Methods and Hot Topics
Separation techniques in organic geochemistry

A prize will be offered for the best student presentation, oral and poster. The AOGC medal for a lifetime achievement in organic geochemistry will also be presented.

Full details of AOGC 2012, including information about how to register, as well as links to accommodation will be released on the conference website as they become available:
