The following message is on behalf of the Local Advisory Committee to encourage postgraduate submissions from the Australasia-Oceania region. Please note that the abstract deadline is fast approaching - Tuesday 29 January 2013.
As a way to increase the number of students (Honours and Postgraduate) presenting papers at the AOGS 2013 meeting, and to boost the number of Australian, other Australasian, and Oceanian students and other participants, the Local Advisory Committee (LAC) for the AOGS 2013 meeting announces the following scheme:
LAC Student Registration Waiver Scheme for Australasian and Oceanian students
(1) At least 10 full student registration waivers and 30 student helper registration waivers will be available. Student helper registration will be required to work for AOGS for half the conference (e.g. as meeting room assitants, on registration desk, etc.)
(2) Only H onours Year or Postgraduate students at Australasian (including Australia and New Zealand) and Oceanian universities can apply.
(3) Only students who are first authors on an abstract submitted to AOGS 2013 can apply - only students with abstracts accepted for presentation will be awarded these registration waivers.
(4) Applications for the scheme will open on 15 February, via either email or an online process. Selection criterian and application details will be provided separately after the deadine for abstract submission (29 January 2013).
(5) Registration waivers will be allocated to Sections in proportion (rounded appropriately) to the number of abstracts accepted by AOGS for each Sections.
(6) The LAC Student Registration Waiver Scheme will be implemented by the LAC in consultation with AOGS.
We encourage all Australasian, Oceanian, and other colleagues worldwide to encourage their colleagues and students to submit abstracts to the AOGS 2013 meeting, at www.asiaoceania.org, and to encourage suitable students to apply later for the LAC Student Student Registration Waiver Scheme.
Sincerely,
