Colleagues: After establishing the Australian Centre for Astrobiology in 2001 and having acted as its Director now for 12 years, at the age of nearly 69 I have decided to step aside and pass the administration of the Centre to two new Co-Directors, Professors Chris Tinney and Martin Van Kranendonk.

Chris is a renowned astronomer who has an impressive record in the discovery and understanding of exoplanets, brown dwarfs and low-mass stars.

Martin is a world leader in the geology of the early Earth with decades of experience in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, the Barberton Mountainland of South Africa and elsewhere.

I am not yet retiring and will remain active in the Centre over the coming years together with my students. I look forward to seeing the Centre continue to grow and will see you all at future astrobiology meetings.
