Congratulations to BE Interior Architecture Senior Lecturer, Judith O’Callaghan and co-author Powerhouse Museum's Curator of Design and Built Environment, Charles Pickett.
Charles and Judith have won the Education, Interpretation and Community Engagement (Book) category at the 2013 NSW Heritage Awards for their book, Designer Suburbs: Architects and Affordable Homes in Australia. The book references the works of industry leaders such as Harry Seidler, Robin Boyd, Ken Woolley, Michael Dysart and Graeme Gunn, and explores the relationship between architects, builders and affordable housing - and the lessons we can learn from twentieth-century designer suburbs. The work also features photographs from Max Dupain, David Moore, Wolfgang Sievers and Eric Sierins.
See the Architecture Australia website for a review by Keith Cottier.
