Daniel Mansfield
Three UNSW Mathematics and Statistics PhD students attended the recent Australian Mathematical Sciences Student Conference at ANU. In a demonstration of the calibre of UNSW mathematics, UNSW PhD students won two of three prizes awarded at the conference.

Daniel Mansfield, who is in the final stages of his PhD in the School, took home the Analysis Prize. Billie Ganendran, a PhD (Statistics) Candidate at UNSW Canberra, won the Mathematics for Planet Earth Prize.

The goal of the Australian Mathematical Sciences Student Conference is to bring together postgraduate and honours students in the mathematical sciences from around Australia, enabling them to communicate their work, facilitating dialogue, and encouraging collaboration, all in a friendly and informal atmosphere.

90 students attended the conference this year, making the UNSW PhD students' prize gains quite an achievement. Congratulations to Daniel and Billie!
