Maths Competition ceremony
On Friday 13 September the School held a Prizegiving Ceremony for meritorious students in the UNSW 52nd Annual School Mathematics Competition. The ceremony took place in the Clancy Theatre.

The competition, which was run in June, is open to participation by secondary school students in NSW and the ACT. It is run in Junior and Senior divisions.

The ceremony procession was composed of School members, including Head of School Bruce Henry, Deputy Head of School John Roberts, Peter Brown, Jim Franklin, Catherine Greenhill, Mike Hirschhorn, and Frances Quo. Maths Competition ceremony

Professor Bruce Henry conferred the awards, and Dr Catherine Greenhill and Jim Franklin both presented talks to the students. Annelies Tjetjep, Business Solution Manager, Analytics at SAS, was a guest speaker.

Dr Greenhill spoke about her journey to becoming a mathematician, which has taken her to many corners of the globe. Professor Franklin mentioned that he first attended the Mathematics Competition as a student participant in 1970.

Dr Hirschhorn marked his 40th year attending a competition ceremony.
