The School is proud to announce that UNSW Statistics PhD student Francis Hui has won the prestigious JB Douglas Award.
Francis received the award yesterday at a competition organised by the NSW Branch of the Statistical Society of Australia which was held at UTS, Sydney.
The JB Doulgas competition is held annually between selected PhD students of NSW universities. The award commemorates the work of the late Jim Douglas.
Head of Statistics in the School, Associate Professor Spiro Penev, said that Francis "had a very strong - and entertaining - presentation, and answered all questions with extreme confidence. He was a clear favourite in the panel's decision and won the 1000 dollar award".
We warmly congratulate Francis for his achievement!
